This exhibition showcased artefacts and collection from Maritime Museum and oversea museum and archive to deliver the history of early Sino–American trade in the late eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. The exhibition was divided into five sections, namely “Dreaming of the East”, “Treaty Ports”, “Speeding up the Trade”, “Exotic Tastes”, and “Building a Community”.
The concept comes from the painting technique and the color scheme of the exhibits which show the integration of culture and art between East and West, it also express the huge influence of cultural exchanges and art development after the frequent trading between American and Chinese traders.
